SECTION 1 - EVENT DETAILS
Briefing | Briefing will take place on the day at the YeAABA Clubhouse after close of registration. The briefing will take place outdoors so please ensure you have warm clothing. |
Start | On the starters/referees instruction, swimmers should promptly access the water from the private slipway and form a line facing downriver. Start will by by loud hailer or whistle. |
Course | During your swim you will head for the five or six span of the rail bridge from the south side of the river and through the third or fourth span of the road bridge from the port navigation span, that is the span that is marked with green light. Always follow your boat. This swim will be run under YeAABA Club Championship rules. Please note this swim has a time limit of two and a half hours after that time you will be taken from the water as the tide is on the ebb and rescue crafts will be withdrawn. |
Finish | By touching the South West corner of the YeAABA pier. There will be a red and white finish sign draped on the south-west side of the harbour wall. N.B. A swimmer finishing, but missing the "touch" due to tidal conditions will be accorded a certificate but no official time or place in the race. |
Costumes | Costumes must comply with SASA regulations which are the same as World Aquatics in this respect. Open Water Swimwear for both men and women shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor shall extend below the ankle. All Open Water swimsuits shall comply with the World Aquatics criteria for materials and approved procedures. |
Parking | Free parking is available at the YeAABA pier Broughty Ferry. To minimise congestion at Balmerino we need to maximise people in vehicles. Please meet on the YeAABA pier no later than 12:00. Please DO NOT take your car down to the Balmerino beach area, this is private property. No vehicles to be left at Balmerino during the swim. |
Presentation | Presentation of Awards will take place after the swim at the YeAABA clubhouse. The following Categories will be awarded: |

In addition to the annual awards 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each category will be awarded a unique 'Ian D. McIntosh' medal in Gold, Silver or Bronze. All finishers will receive a personalized certificate.
